Dr. Marcela F. González

I am sociologist, researcher and educator. I received my PhD and MPhil in Sociology from the Graduate Center of the City University of New York, my MA in Sociology from the University of Maryland, CP, and my BA in Sociology, with honors, from the University of Buenos Aires.


My areas of research have been immigration, redistribution, inequality, poverty and child poverty. I have specialized and employed in my research quantitative, qualitative, and comparative methods. My research work has been published at Ethnic and Racial Studies, International Migration, International Labor and Working Class History, Revista Sociedad, University of Buenos Aires Press, Ciepp-Miño y Dávila Press, Prometeo Press, among others.


I have around 15 years of experience teaching undergraduate and graduate courses. I teach “Contemporary Global Challenges: Poverty, Inequality, and Immigration” in the department of Political Science and International Relations at Universidad Torcuato Di Tella, Buenos Aires. In the United States, I held appointments at the City University of New York and the University of Wisconsin. I held visiting positions at Fordham University and Lehigh University.
